![]() St Peter’s Church has a ring of eight bells,
six of which were installed in 1743, with the two trebles added in 1900. The tenor bell weighs 15cwt.
We have a thriving band of ringers and we aim to ring every Sunday from 10.30am to 11.15am
and again, if possible, for the evening service. We are available to ring, if required, for weddings and any other celebrations and also, if requested by the family, for funerals when the bells are half-muffled and the tenor bell is tolled.
We practise on Tuesdays from 7.45pm until 9pm and enjoy various social events throughout the year associated with ringing. We take our ringing seriously and we usually enter the Chew Branch annual striking competition – we live in hope of winning the shield one year.
We are very much part of the church family and usually look after a stall at the Church summer fete and autumn fayre.
We are always happy to welcome newcomers – whether ringers or not – we will teach new ringers from the age of 10 to 110!
If you are interested in seeing what we do, we will be happy to see you any Tuesday evening or you can contact our Tower Captain via the Parish Office (please see Contact Us) |
